  2. I often setup a layer as 16:9 based on 1080p source content, like a video. Occasionally we may get a video that is 4:3 or some other ratio.

Currently, content is stretched to fill the layer. This can be problematic in instances where maintaining aspect ratio is important. If there was a layer settings (or default) to either:

    a) Stretch to Fill
    b) Aspect Fill (overshoot if needed)
    c) Aspect Fit (fits the content inside the footprint of the layer

    Hi.

Millumin always preserve the ratio, unless :
    - you mapped the content (so it’s contrained to a specific shape)
    - you activated “separated” for the scale (so ratio is not preserved)

Additionally, there is an option “normalize” to adjust the scale of the content, so it fills the whole canvas.

Consequently, this idea is set as “declined”.
If we didn’t understand your idea, please post a comment or create a new one.

Timelines are transparent by default. To make them with a white-background, just create a layer with a white “color card” at the very bottom.

If you think there is something that is not expected in timeline, please send us all detail via email : contact at millumin
    Thank you.

  6. Be able to add a new quartz composer effect by Drag and Drop (or a "add effect " menu). It should be more intuitive, rather than going to the User Library (which is hidden be default, need to create the good folder, and it's never riskless to go in the library for some users ...).

  7. Change Milluplug so that it can be saved and transfered from one computer to another. As far as I can tell, if I build a show on my laptop and I put in 200+ plugs, when I transfer it over to the performance computer I have to put each of those plugs back in again. Yes, my laptop will pull them up, but the performance computer won’t.

Sorry but this is not planned : keep in mind that MilluPlug is an experimental application from our lab, and is not meant to evolve.

However, MilluPlug have been integrated in Millumin V2 (so transfering a project is easy).

  8. on large venues we drive all Displays, Projektors and seamless-switcher with an EDID 1920:1080@50. all content comes 1920:1080@50 and Live HD-Cam 1080i @50Hz
to integrate Millumin we need to set the output and Framerate to 50Hz
    is it possible?

    Hello,

The framerate isn’t set by Millumin : please do not change the “global framerate” settings, as stated in the Preferences “i” icon (this setting only allows to skip frames and it will be removed soon, as it’s useless now).
To change EDID, you need to deal with OSX System Preferences, or use a small application such as SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com/) to override the native behavior.

  11. It would be usefull to be able to apply a quartz composer effect using multiple inputs, to a multi selection of milllumin layers.
Some effects needs more than one or two video inputs like water or fire effects. Would be nice to be able to do that in a composition.

    Hello,

You can expand the “Time” panel on the right of the dashboard, to see the time position of the media (that can be controlled by OSC as in the TouchOSC template).
Also, you can use MilluPlug to control the time position through MIDI, OSC, DMX, …

    Best. Philippe

  15. In such a way, it won't be necessary to have all the raws large in the dashboard in order to access the transition/opacity feature

    Hello,

Apple Motion plugin are not designed to work in realtime.
So it won’t be possible use them with Millumin.
Moreover, such plugins cannot be used by another application than Motion.

  18. Here's my scenario...

    Awards show.

Layer 1 - looping full screen video - background layer
Layer 2 - Lots of png's and short video "transitions" across multiple columns.

Spacebar press moves to the next column and we step through like a powerpoint.

What happens now is that the looping background re-starts if you just copy it into every column, or dissapears if you only have it in the first.

  20. When we film in PAL a projection screen we need to broadcast with Mac output set to 50fps, to be synchronized with cameras. (to avoid interlaced issues)
    ie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HO6WWfgibg
So I guess we'll have better results if the global framerate can be set to 50fps.
    Thx

    Hello.
The problem is not the framerate. Millumin’s framerate is synchronized to the display refresh, as any good OpenGL application.

Maybe your video is simply interlaced, and requires to be deinterlaced.
I wrote you an email to dig this problem together.

    Best. Philippe
