Advanced Soft Edge Blending Controls
I'd like to propose an improvement to Millumin's soft edge blending system.
At the moment, the current soft edge implementation offers only a single adjustment parameter. While this works in some situations, in real-world multi-projector installations it's often difficult to achieve a truly invisible blend because projectors rarely have identical brightness and gamma characteristics.
It would be incredibly useful if Millumin offered more advanced soft edge controls, such as:
- Adjustable blend curve (instead of a fixed curve)
- Custom gamma or power curve adjustment
- Luminance compensation
- Color correction within the blend area
- Separate controls for the left and right side of each blend
Applications such as Resolume and Pixera include these types of controls, allowing users to compensate for projector differences and create much cleaner, seamless overlaps.
With the current implementation, the fixed blend curve can leave visible transitions that can't always be corrected using the existing single adjustment. Having access to additional parameters would make it much easier to compensate for differences between projectors and achieve a seamless edge blend.
Adding more control over the blend curve would make Millumin even more capable for professional multi-projector installations.
I believe this would be a valuable enhancement for anyone using Millumin for large projection mapping or immersive installations, where seamless edge blending is essential.
