in ableton we have automations, that we can write then play,

in millumin transitions allow this feature, but in the middle of a transition, it's impossible to take the control back from physical controls that we have set in interaction panel.
For emergency and security reasons it could be great to allow the physical controller and the mouse to take the control over the transition ex for light fixture... cos a show sometimes need the human to take over ...
Ableton has a nice way of making it clear , displaying a different color when automation has been overpassed and showing the controller unlinked to automation with a different color too. ( and we can set the snap back parameter ( absolute or relative )
